Everett Hoag’s Hat Designs: Blending Fashion with Performance Art

Having experience working as a performer of dance and mime in theater, has been greatly influenced Everett Hoag’s hat designs. He has an extraordinarily thick artistic collection, and tends to care about the whole outfit rather than only give attention to one piece of hat or other accessories. As a Pawtucket-based designer who has ever been working in theater, he just too familiar with concerning the whole outfit of performers.

Thus, as an event stylist, he has a big motto, “the crazier the concept, the better”. It seems that Hoag is somewhat went through flexible with the odd ideas. Like for instance when he was participating in the StyleWeek Providence last June, he has created a dramatic design of skull headpiece for Maya Luz’s “Project Runway” show.

Recently, he has teamed up with Boston-based shoe designer Zack Lo to make costumes and hats for Zack’s print ads. Hoag has also made some fascinators for young clubber women, veils for bride and pill box hats for mothers of the bride and embroidered head bands for kids.

Since he moved from New York City to Rhode Island, he has limited his works and especially produces small hats for those Rhode Islanders. Recently, he has performed his new design for FashionWeeks. It was like a hat for a drama queen in the theater. That is how his design is blending between fashion and performance art.
